Volunteer Toolkit Launch

As part of Volunteers Week 2021, ERVAS have launched their very own Volunteer Toolkit.

This is a resource for organisations that involve volunteers. They hope that this will help you support and continue to grow your volunteers, or even, consider recruiting your own volunteers to support you, all year round.

Please do take a look at the toolkit, and send us your thoughts.

Something missing from the resources? Let them know, email office@ervas.org.uk
as they would love to develop them further.

Visit the Toolkit!

This paper is intended for organisations invested in making a difference – this extends broadly to Trusts, Foundations, companies invested in making a social impact, local government, charities and social enterprises. Our focus lies specifically with the community engagement element of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

New sign for Driffield Shed

A talented shedder from the Driffield Men in Sheds has been working hard and produced a fantastic sign that incorporates the sheds logo. The sign will go on the front of the building from which the shed operates. With its eye-catching look, I am sure it will draw in potential shedders which will hopefully lead to an increase in membership.

Quizzer's Cup revealed!

A Big thank you to Jack from Scunthorpe Men in Sheds.

Jack from Scunthorpe Men in Sheds has kindly made the fantastic winner’s cup shown opposite, that will be presented to the winners of the Humber Alliance Men in Sheds Quiz. The shed that won our Christmas quiz last year will be the first shed to have their names put on the winner’s cup.

This year’s quiz has been arranged for the 9th December 2021 10-12 so put the date in your diary!
Own a piece of Beverley history

Beverley Men in Sheds - Beverley Minster
wood donation project.

A talented shedder from Beverley Men in Sheds has been putting the wood donated by Beverley Minster to good use. Small pieces of wood from the roof timbers of Beverley minster (which date back to the 17th Century) have been turned into jewellery, key rings and light pulls. The items made will be sold, and the proceeds split between the minster and the shed.

Thank you Day 4th July

Starting from just 13 individuals proposing a Thank You Day, the idea is now supported by hundreds of organisations across the country, ranging from the Scouts and Guides to Rotary and the Royal Voluntary Service, NHS, The Mirror and the Sun, the Football Association and the Church of England.

It’s got the backing of celebrities, religious leaders and sports stars, local councils and schools, businesses and communities throughout the UK.

The aim is for as many people as possible to be involved, however they would like, so everyone who deserves it gets a thank you – and the whole of the UK gets together.

There isn’t a strict plan for the day (the idea is to say thank you however you want!) but people are already organising lots of activities which we can all join in with and support.
